Dabur is an Indian multinational consumer goods company, founded by S. K. Burman and headquartered in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. It manufactures Ayurvedic medicine and natural consumer products, and is one of the largest fast-moving consumer goods companies in India and in many destinations internationally as well.

THE PROBLEM

Dabur wanted to reach new customers in Kenya for its herbal toothpaste, at the same time reward its existing customers for using their products. The company wanted to partner with a brand that was contemporary and relevant to the younger audience as they wanted to attract more youthful customers.

THE SOLUTION

RewardPort studied the current Kenyan thoroughly to understand relevant and contemporary global brands that Dabur could partner with for this promotion. There’s nothing young people like more than ordering out and taking Uber rides; and that’s what we did! We got Uber on board and offered customers with a discount of 300 Kenyan Shillings on Uber rides or Uber Eats.

THE RESULTS

The program was successfully designed, executed and implemented by RewardPort Kenya. Dabur’s herbal toothpaste sales increased exponentially and the partnership between two powerful brands caught a lot of positive attention from young and new customers.

Challenge: Managing end-to-end incentive program for distributors efficiently.

Solution:

  1. RewardPort registered addresses and email ids of all distributors by getting a form filled with their company seal & signature and digitizing it
  2. Created reward catalogue for 5 slabs with 4 gift options in each slab category
  3. Deployed an account manager and operations resource for timely MIS & escalation management
  4. Created a full-proof reward delivery system eliminating pilferage of gifts and theft/misuse by parties
  5. Created periodic schemes for retailers- free recharge on billing of Digene products

Program mechanics: We receive a data file from Abbott team with address and gift option details of the qualified distributors every month. Tangible gifts are dispatched directly on the addresses and e-vouchers are emailed on their registered email id.
